Join Aveda and Audubon in calling for Decisive Action on Climate Change

Wednesday, 11 November 2015 18:02

Climate change is one of the most critical issues facing the world today. Aveda and Audubon –both advocates for environmental responsibility– are asking supporters to join them in calling on world leaders at the upcoming COP21 conference in Paris to reach a meaningful global agreement on climate change and keep global warming below 2˚C.

Historically, birds are initial indicators of environmental issues. They reflect changes in the environment quickly; they warn us when nature is out of balance, sending out signals whenever there is deterioration in the ecosystem. Birds are some of the leading characters in telling the story of our relationship to the natural world. Up to half of the world’s birds species are vulnerable to the effects of climate change, and many could become extinct if we don’t take action.

PARTNERS FOR THE PLANET

A simple online petition calls on supporters to add their name to the call for:

  1. • A commitment to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions
  2. • The promotion of clean energy and energy conservation
  3. • The protection of our forests, grasslands and diverse ecosystems
  4. • The protection of our oceans, rivers, lakes and streams

SHARING CREATES CHANGE

Aveda & Audubon are asking guests to sign the petition and share it with friends on to help make a world of difference:

Our relationship with Audubon spans many years,” says Dave Rapaport, Aveda Vice President, Earth & Community Care. “We share a common passion for habitat protection. Together we are providing our supporters and partners with a chance to take a stand on climate change and help play their role in creating a safe environment for birds as they are some of the leading characters in telling the story of our relationship to the natural world.”

Protecting birds and the places they need from global warming will require powerful partnerships and unique collaboration,” says Matthew Anderson, Audubon Vice President, Climate. “In Aveda – because of its inspiring mission, its extraordinary network of salon owners and artists, and its passionate guests throughout the world – Audubon has found a powerful partner.”
