Slaying Education with Paul Mac – The Original Hair Slayer

From creative cuts and barbering, avant-garde styling and color techniques, there is no hair project that Irish Hair Slayerz founder Paul Mac can’t slay. Crossing the pond to the United States, Hair Slayerz launched their first USA master class in Salon Republic’s The Lab in Hollywood, CA.

Joining forces with cutting master Mikey Teeze of Alchemy Salon Collective and crazy color innovator Rickey Zito, this dynamic group hosted 2 full days of education.

With look and learn style demos, and hands on education as well, the Hair Slayerz taught more than just cuts and color. As a decorated award winner boasting dozens of titles, recognition and Estetica Magazine covers, Paul Mac took a deep dive into story boarding, conceptualizing, and executing not only cut and color but also how to capture amazing photographs of your hair creations. Sprinkling in useful tips for on-set styling, coloring hair for print photography or digital photography, this intensive master class left no stone unturned while they delivered valuable insight for creative stylists.

The class began his theory and instruction moving into some demos on live models and doll heads. Encouraging engagement, these 3 educators patiently and precisely addressed questions regarding salon pricing to solving lighting issues, from getting ideal clients to what it takes to enter hair competitions. Students were inquisitive, energized, and eager to put their gained knowledge into practical action on their own models.

With live models for cutting and coloring demos, the attending students were also engaging in a very interactive Photoshoot, learning some simple yet practical lighting techniques, model positioning, and other tips and tricks to “slay” their next editorial look.
