Beauty Changes Lives announces Summer 2019 Miller Family Foundation Scholarship Winners

The generosity of the Miller Family Foundation is funding professional possibilities for both aspiring and future beauty and wellness professionals.

Beauty Changes Lives is honored to announce the winners of the Summer 2019 Miller Family Foundation Scholarships – part of a $1M commitment by the Miller Family Foundation to support the future of the industry.

The Summer 2019 winners are as follows:

Isamar Perez Rosado, @simplyglambyisamar
Reedsburg, WI, Aveda Institute-Madison
Arnold Miller Find A Way Scholarship Recipient
Isamar already knows beauty changes lives. As a contestant in the Skills USA program in high school, Isamar represented Puerto Rico as a nail technician in the national competition. After moving to Wisconsin in 2016, Isamar supported herself and her young son as a nail professional, always striving for excellence by competing at events and getting her work showcased in a nail publication. “Beauty has given me many ways to feel confident and I want to help others find their confidence when I become a beauty educator,” says Isamar. Sofia Naccarato, @sofiafaithaesthetics
Lindon, UT, Acaydia School of Aesthetics
Sydell Miller Total Image Scholarship Recipient
Sometimes life’s hardships lead to new opportunities. It was severe acne that inspired Sofia’s interest in esthetics. Unable to afford beauty school, she became a respiratory therapist. Sofia gave up on her esthetics dream until she was introduced to microblading and took a course, rekindling her passion for esthetics. “I can truly say beauty changes lives, even if it’s through hard things like scars along life’s path,” says Sofia. Kira Bell, @kookymua
Medford, Or, Paul Mitchell The School-Portland
Arnold Miller, Art of Haircoloring Scholarship Recipient
Coloring her hair for the first time at age 10, Kira says, “Fantasy colored hair has been part of my look for more than half my life.” From finding inspiration in candy to creating tie-dye effects displayed in her school’s window, Kira has a passion for taking color to the next level. Her coolest experience? A classmate who trusted Kira to treat her hair as a canvas for fantasy color. See the transformation and watch her video here!

Megan Sweeney, @Alwaysbeyoubeauty
Great Falls, MT, Montana Academy of Salons
Arnold Miller Art of Hairdressing Scholarship Recipient
Call her the beauty bookworm. Megan devours books and even research papers to inspire ideas for a salon that is ethically conscious and sustainable. “I look forward to being happy, healthy and wealthy through a career in cosmetology,” says Megan. Maintaining a 100% GPA, she doesn’t shy away from mistakes. “Making mistakes comes with the job and I want to help other hairstylists I work with learn not to shy away from challenges,” says Megan. Erica Hadaric, @ericanoellh
Key West, FL, Paul Mitchell the School – Miami
Art of Haircutting Recipient
As her 40th birthday approached, Erica thought about how to cultivate her life and realized she wanted to bring back a family business. “My parents met in beauty school, so I literally wouldn’t be here if it were not for beauty,” says Erica. She’d seen her immigrant grandmother live the American Dream, eventually launching a family business that became the go-to “it” salon. “I can’t wait to bring back Million Dollar Cut Salon and honor my grandmother’s legacy,” says Erica. After defining her dream, there was another problem – access to a beauty school. But Erica didn’t let that stand in the way. She makes a 150-mile commute to attend classes in Miami. Two-and-a-half years into the multi-year, $1M commitment, the Miller Family Foundation scholarships are transforming lives and the mission of Beauty Changes Lives. “From establishing thriving businesses that in turn change the lives to others to shining in the pages of national beauty magazines, the Miller Family Foundation scholarship recipients are shining examples that beauty really does change lives,” says Lynelle Lynch, president of Beauty Changes Lives.

Ten Miller Family Foundation Scholarships are awarded annually. More information is available at http://beautychangeslives.org/scholarships
