Education + Innovation: Kao Canada Inc. opens new North American Academy in Toronto

Thursday, 20 June 2019 11:37

Kao Canada Inc., home to Goldwell, KMS, and Oribe salon brands, announced the grand opening of its new Kao Salon Academy in Toronto, one of two North American facilities devoted to groundbreaking education for salon professionals.

Located at 326 King Street East near Toronto’s Distillery District, the new Academy will offer hundreds of training opportunities and courses each year in all aspects of hair care, colour, cutting, and service.

Education is central to our mission as a company, and stylists depend on us for both superb instruction and inspiring educational experiences,” says Kathy Reilly, associate director of education at Kao Canada. “Inside its walls and with its vibrant surroundings, this new facility provides the ideal setting for learning and creativity to flourish.

The new site offers premium amenities to salon professionals from across Canada and the U.S., including enhanced classroom programming and a collaboration-friendly space with open ductwork and a loft-style mezzanine ideal for enjoying refreshments and conversation.

At the new academy, stylists can choose from more than 40 Goldwell, KMS and Oribe programs designed to elevate their skills and spark creative inspiration. At the heart of Goldwell’s educational philosophy is the globally recognized Master Design Series, which includes Master Colorist and the Master Stylist designations.

Stylists now have the flexibility to complete their educational journeys at the location of their choice,” says Sandra Humphries, Director, Education, Kao Salon Division, Americas Region. “We have a truly global curriculum that is consistent across our Academies, and Salon Alliance incentive points can be used at any location, so I encourage stylists to experience both of these unique Academy settings.

The KMS education path begins with the acclaimed IQ Cutting Method and Connect to Disconnect to empower stylists to perfect their cutting skills. Core classes like these and artist signature sessions are offered at Kao Salon Academies around the world.
