65.1 by Sassoon

Tuesday, 19 March 2019 17:53

To mark the 65th anniversary of Sassoon, the Academy collection celebrates the brands essential house codes, technical innovation manifested in architecturally inspired shapes with a human element.

The graphic simplicity of the looks belies the intricacy of the technique responsible for their creation, with the classic Sassoon shapes being reassessed. The iconic A-line bob is reinvented with understated reverse layering and a gently draped interior. The box bob is revamped with a Jago balance, gentle undercutting and a slightly frayed edge. Even the ultimate five-point cut is given a new energy with detailed hairline work and internal texture, this collection is overflowing with ideas.

Colors flow through the cuts with energy and vitality, accentuating and delineating the lines. Oversized geometric shapes of chevrons, arrows, right angles and repeating squares are all used through the surface of the shape to dramatize the effect. A kaleidoscopic palette that runs through cyclamen, magenta, purple, yellow and green shines out of bases of dark chocolate brown, cool blonde and natural copper. The Sassoon color concept of Shape and Balance is taken to new heights in this collection.
